Ramadan Dubai with Whom We Care About
Dubai .. In line with the “Ramadan Dubai” events 1444 AH- 2023 AD, held and organized by the Islamic Affairs & Charitable Activities Department in Dubai under the motto (Ramadan Dubai with Whom We Care About) under the generous and gracious auspices of His Highness Sheikh / Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, The Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and the Ruler of Dubai, May Allah Protect Him.
The aim of Ramadan Dubai events is disseminating the morals and values of love and affection, enhancing a spirit of peaceful coexistence and solidarity amongst the nationals and residents from different communities.
The Department held the (Dubai Iftar) initiative for the second season consecutively in 2023 AD., which is a remarkable initiative in the region, as it brings together leaders of all religions and numerous sects residing in the Emirate of Dubai on one table for Iftar, and comprising members of Diplomatic and Consular Bodies in the Emirate, along with some senior officials in the state.
These religions and sects embrace: Sikhs, Bahra, Hindus, Buddhists, Jews, the Coptic Church, and the Ja’fari endowments – The initiative seeks to consolidate the principle of moderation and wisdom, renouncing racism and accepting the other from all religions.
Besides, it echoes the deeply rooted and well-established UAE culture of peaceable coexistence and Takaful (solidarity), particularly, in the Holy Month of Ramadan, further, it mirrors the image of the Emirate of Dubai as the Capital of Culture, Religious Freedom, stability and progress, which is the culture that our world necessities pressingly nowadays, away from sectarianism and fanaticism for any sect, religion, race, color or gender.
This year, Al Wasl Plaza in Expo City Dubai was elected to host the “Dubai Ifatr” Initiative due to the symbolic model Al Wasl Plaza reflects as an outstanding icon of communication of minds and civilizations in the Globe. It is noteworthy that, this year was extended to encompass more representatives of sects and religions, members of Consular and Diplomatic Bodies in the State.
In its first season last year, the initiative received an extensive global significance at all levels in the local and global media, along with, the research and thought centers, as the Emirate of Dubai was accorded as a qualitative cultural front in all over the world.
This came in line with the consolidated Iftar ceremony held at Al Wasl Plaza in Expo City Dubai, on Sunday evening, 2/4/2023, that assembled all the religious leaders and religious sects of all different denominations residing in the Emirate of Dubai, in the attendance of His Excellency Dr. Hamad Al Sheikh Ahmad Al Shaibani, the Director General of the Islamic Affairs & Charitable Activities Department in Dubai, the Executives and Cultural Communication Consultant at the Department, as well as the heads of Dubai Ramadan Initiative teams, along with, members of the diplomatic and consular corps in the UAE, and all the local and global media, sponsors and participants in Ramadan Dubai .
In his statement delivered on this occasion, Al Shaibani extended his sincere congratulations and blessings to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, The President of the UAE, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, The Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Their Highnesses the Members of the Federal Supreme Council, and Rulers of the UAE, Crown Princes and Deputy Rulers, and to the noble people of the UAE and residents of its benevolent land, wishing Allah the Almighty to make it a month of good, gladness and blessings for everyone.
Al Shaibani indicated that the Ramadan Dubai program was initiated more than 15 years ago under the name of (Dubai Readers) and afterward the name was changed to be: (Rashid Bin Mohammed Ramadan Forum) and then it became (Dubai Ramadan Initiative), and currently it embraces a qualitative assortment of initiatives, events and cultural and religious activities that would cast shades of mercy and serenity on everyone in the holy month of Ramadan.
Al Shaibani illustrated that all sects, religions and denominations in the Emirate of Dubai are equal, and constitute a fundamental element and an indispensable part of the people of the United Arab Emirates, as there are more than 250 nationalities and languages in Dubai alone, and all existing under the roof of human brotherhood and fraternity, in total harmony, cohesion and accord, as they formulate the unique fabric of this community, which sets the utmost brilliant examples of freedom of religions and cultures in the Globe.
On the other hand, the participants of the Dubai Iftar emphasized that the United Arab Emirates denotes a remarkable model of coexistence, human brotherhood and fraternity and acceptance of the other, indicating that the state was established on the values of love, familiarity and cooperation with others, which is the unique model the world necessities nowadays, particularly in its present situations, experiencing voluminous conflicts and disputes.
