In a prestigious ceremony organized by the Engineering and Mosque Care Department, the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai proudly honored the winners of the Mosque Design Competition hosted at the American University in Dubai. The event took place yesterday afternoon and was attended by distinguished guests, including Mohammed Ali bin Zayed Al Falasi, Executive Director of the Mosque Care Sector, Dr. Sabrina Joseph, Provost and Chief Academic Officer and Dr. Anna Cornaro, Chair of the Department of Architecture from the American University in Dubai, Mariam Juma Al Falasi, Chief Operating Officer and Jassim Al Abdool, Executive Director of the Project Department from Dubai Holding Real Estate, along with several professors and students from the university.
The recipients of the competition awards were announced as follows: Fatima Al Sada from the UAE secured the first place, Nidal Al Ashhab from Palestine achieved the second place, and Anna De Sa from Brazil earned the third place.
Mohammed Ali bin Zayed Al Falasi personally presented the winners and participants with certificates of thanks and appreciation. He expressed gratitude to the professors at the American University for their positive engagement, leading to the success of the competition and the selection of outstanding designs. Furthermore, he extended heartfelt appreciation to Dubai Holding Real Estate for their generous contributions towards the winners’ awards. Notably, the first-place winner received 20,000 AED, the second-place winner received 15,000 AED, and the third-place winner received 10,000 AED. This significant financial support underscores Dubai Holding Real Estate’s commitment to nurturing and encouraging the contestants, ensuring the success and growth of the competition. As part of the preparatory efforts, the Engineering and Mosque Care Department conducted a workshop for second-year students at the School of Architecture, Art & Design at the American University in Dubai. The workshop aimed to familiarize students with the general requirements, rules, and regulations of the competition. It included providing students with a detailed overview of a designated plot of land on Pearl Jumeirah Island and guiding them in modeling the design for this specific location. This initiative is in line with the department’s overarching vision and strategy, focused on constructing comprehensive and sustainable mosques, ultimately contributing to the Dubai Urban Plan 2040 and the development of various neighborhoods and areas across Dubai.
