The UAE’s classic car enthusiasts can expect an unforgettable automotive spectacle next month as the Sharjah Old Car Club (SOCC) has announced that it will be hosting the Sharjah Classic Cars Festival Award during the much-anticipated festival from February 2 – 4, 2024.
Held under the theme ‘More Than Just Cars’, the event will curate a spectacular collection of over 150 classic cars and motorcycles, which will be travelling from across the nation to come and be part of the festival that is designed for the UAE’s car enthusiasts and history lovers alike.
Beyond the sheer display of vintage beauties, the award sets the stage for a spirited competition, fostering a culture of classic cars appreciation within the community and bolstering Sharjah’s status as a vibrant tourist and cultural destination.
Four categories of distinction
The Sharjah Classic Cars Festival Award features four key categories: oldest Car, oldest Motorbike, best Renovated Car to Factory Status and prettiest Car of Audience Choice
All festival participants can sign up their beloved vehicles for an accolade in the competition. A panel of seasoned classic car experts will evaluate participating vehicles, and the winners will be unveiled during the festival’s grand closing ceremony on February 4, 2024.
Evaluation criteria for timeless automotive treasures
Open to vehicles of all makes and models, the Sharjah Classic Cars Festival Award invites participants to showcase the quality and authenticity of their cherished classics. Submissions must provide documented proof of the vehicle’s age, ensuring it remains in good, drivable condition. The ‘Best Renovated Car to Factory Status’ category demands the exterior to mirror its original factory shape, with meticulous attention to preserving both interior and exterior components.
The SOCC assures all festival participants automatically qualify for the Sharjah Classic Cars Festival Award 2024. To register, simply visit the club’s website or engage through their active social media channels.
A prestigious award for every classic car aficionado
Dr. Ali Ahmed Abu Al-Zoud, President of SOCC, underlined the award’s significance as a unique platform for owners to showcase the beauty and history embedded in their rare and valuable vehicles. He envisions the award as more than a recognition ceremony, emphasising its role in fostering an exchange of expertise and knowledge between enthusiasts and seasoned experts in the field.
“The award’’ diverse categories mirror the preferences of classic car owners. From elegant and luxurious models to practical powerhouses capable of conquering challenging terrains, the award encompasses it all. By including a category for the ‘Prettiest Car of Audience Choice’, we ensure that our audience actively participates, selecting the car that captures their imagination and further nurturing their passion for classic cars,” Dr. Al-Zoud added.
Thorough vehicle inspection and participation guidelines
Participating vehicles will undergo a meticulous inspection covering registration and ownership documents, year of manufacturing, chassis number, main parts, exterior structure, interior components, mechanical condition, electric systems, and wheels. Owners should clearly specify their chosen category during registration. Notably, replica and KIT cars are eligible for the ‘Prettiest Car of Audience Choice’ category exclusively and do not qualify for the other award categories.
