The Islamic Affairs & Charitable Activities Department in Dubai has unveiled its Ramadan program and events package as part of the “Ramadan in Dubai” campaign for the year 1445 AH. This initiative was launched under the guidance of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council. The campaign aims to coordinate the efforts of both public and private sectors in commemorating the holy month of Ramadan in Dubai, emphasizing the celebratory spirit that enhances the emirate’s atmosphere during this sacred time.
His Excellency Ahmed Darwish Al Muhairi, Director General of the Islamic Affairs & Charitable Activities Department in Dubai, extended his warmest congratulations and blessings to His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and their brothers, their Highnesses Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates, Crown Princes and Deputy Rulers, and to the people and residents of the UAE. May this month be filled with goodness, happiness, and blessings for everyone.
His Excellency emphasized the commitment of the Islamic Affairs & Charitable Activities Department to delivering its range of activities and programs, aimed at enriching the experiences during the sacred month. He highlighted that the Department initiated its Ramadan programs over 16 years ago under the title “Dubai Readers.” These programs aimed to host renowned readers from both within and outside the United Arab Emirates to lead the Taraweeh and Qiyaam prayers, thereby contributing to the spiritual atmosphere during Ramadan.
Al Muhairi conveyed his pride in the initiative, which has evolved into a highly anticipated symbol for both citizens and residents, thanks to the comprehensive plans in place. These plans encompass a diverse range of activities and events catering to the needs of Muslims and non-Muslims alike.
The Department’s Director General highlighted that this year’s events have been categorized into Islamic, charitable, community, and cultural activities. In addition to the traditional Dubai Readers initiative, he elaborated that a series of lectures in multiple languages will be held across various mosques in the emirate to cater to the needs of worshippers.
The Islamic cultural events package encompasses a range of legal and scientific courses, including a Quran memorization competition tailored for Dubai government employees, under the slogan “The Guardian Employee” in its third session. Additionally, there is a knowledge enhancement program and fatwa councils. Community events take the spotlight this year, boasting a diverse array of venues and target demographics. Among these are “Hala Ramadan,” serving as the Department’s inaugural activity for the month, “We Break Our Fast Together,” “Dubai Pulse,” and “At One Table,” which aims to unite global youth. Also featured is the inaugural edition of the “Muezzin Al-Fareej” event. The Dubai Iftar, a hallmark event, will convene individuals from various religions and sects at a single table, constituting the region’s largest religious gathering. This initiative will be launched in collaboration with a consortium of strategic partners.
Dubai Ramadan’s activities encompass various charitable events aimed at promoting the culture of philanthropy. These include initiatives like the art of the clothes box, periodic inspections, and community engagement efforts. Furthermore, there are events integrating sports, health, and donation, such as the “Step of Life” initiative in its second iteration. Additionally, the Department revealed plans for organizing and coordinating the largest human slogan as part of the “Zayed Humanitarian Day.
He emphasized that the permits for the distribution of Iftar meals amounted to nearly 1,200 permits, targeting the distribution of one million 200,000 meals per day,. He stated, “We reaffirm our societal role and the entrusted responsibility to attain a prominent position following an Islamic approach that fosters closeness, love, and promotes the spirit of peaceful coexistence among citizens and residents, both locally and globally.
This year’s Dubai Ramadan initiative incorporates social media programs alongside interactive initiatives such as “Our Crescent is in Our Home.” Additionally, there are television programs in collaboration with Dubai Media Incorporated, such as “Years in the Service of the Houses of Allah,” and programs featuring Dr. Ahmed Abdulaziz Al-Haddad, the Chief Mufti and Director of the Iftaa Department, and “They Ask You during Ramadan, and “This is How they Converted to Islam”.
